In Frankfurt, Toyota presented a concept foreshadowing a rechargeable version of the new Prius 3.Called Prius Plug-in Hybrid Concept, this prototype adopts lithium ion batteries when the production model uses NiMH batteries Nickel. They are rechargeable in 3 hours on the 100 V and 1:40 on the 200 V.
According to Toyota, this study has an autonomy of 20 km in electric mode and any claims of emissions of C02 contained 60 grams per kilometer.
However, do not rejoice too soon. Even if the Prius 3 sells like hotcakes, the Plug-in after this concept is not widely marketed.
The world's leading manufacturer provides indeed a fleet of 500 vehicles to be tested in several countries from Japan to the United States through Great Britain, France and Germany.
